Harley-Davidson, the bike that defines the American biker scene, has had a little bit of trouble, it seems, with some of their 2014 models. According to Harley spokesmen, 2,886 of Harley’s 2014 Trike (FLHTCUTG), CVO Softail Deluxe (FLSTNSE) and CVO Breakout (FXSBE) have been issued a recall, due to a faulty clutch plate that was assembled incorrectly.
According to Harley, “if the clutch does not disengage, the rider may hae difficulty slowing or stopping the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.” Well, that’s a big, “no duh,” but we now the guys in Milwaukee have to cover their corporate “softails” when it comes to all this legal mumbo-jumbo.
If you have one of these bikes, please keep them off the road for now (shouldn’t be too much of a problem, unless you live in the still-warm state of Florida), and give your local Harley-Davidson dealer a call, or you can call 1-800-258-2464 for more details.
Again, stay safe out there, and keep tuned to us for any future word on recalls and other safety information.
Until next time, we’ll see you later!
